The South Carolina Gamecocks is the men's basketball team representing the University of South Carolina in the NCAA Division I Basketball. They were founded in 1908, and compete in the Southeastern Conference. The team qualified for the NCAA Tournament Final Four in 2017 and secured two SEC championships in 1997 and 2009. The Gamecocks play home games at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina.

As of the 2024–2025 season, Lamont Paris boasts a 37–29 career coaching record at South Carolina, focusing on player development and competitive performance in the SEC. Paris won one SoCon tournament in 2022 and one SoCon regular season championship in 2022. He was awarded the SEC Coach of the Year in 2024 and SoCon Coach of the Year in 2022.
