The South Carolina Gamecocks is a college women’s basketball team that represents the University of South Carolina in NCAA Division I Basketball. They were founded in 1923. The team competes in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and plays home games at Colonial Life Arena, which has a capacity of 18,000. The 2024-2025 women’s team is managed by the head coach, Dawn Staley, and it’s his seventeenth season at South Carolina. The Gamecocks represent the Garnet and black colours. As of the 2024-2025 season, over 20 of their former players were drafted in the WNBA, including Laeticia Amihere for the Atlanta Dream, Zia Cooke for the Los Angeles Sparks, Brea Beal for the Minnesota Lynx, Victaria Saxton for the Indiana Fever, Kamilla Cardoso for the Chicago Sky, and many more.

The South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball team has won three NCAA National Championships in 2017, 2022, and 2024. All their championship victories were coached by Dawn Staley.
