South Carolina Women Basketball Coach

The South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball team competes in the Southeastern Conference and is regarded as one of the top programs in the country. In the past decade, they have been a mainstay in the battle for SEC and national championships.

Under head coach Dawn Staley, the South Carolina women’s basketball team has won three NCAA Championships in 2017, 2022 and 2024. The home games are played at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina.

The four-time Naismith Coach of the Year, Dawn Staley, has been at the helm of the South Carolina women’s basketball team since 2008. She is the only African-American basketball head coach to win multiple national titles and one of the five head coaches to lead an undefeated team to the National Championship.

In her 16 seasons with the Gamecocks, Stanley has won three National Championships, eight SEC tournament tiles and eight regular-season championships. Before her arrival at Columbia, Staley spent eight seasons with the Temple Owls.

Associate Head Coach

Lisa Boyer joined Staley’s coaching staff in 2008 as an assistant coach before earning her promotion to associate head coach in 2010. She has been working under Staley since the 2002-03 season during their time at Temple. In her 16 seasons with the Gamecocks, Boyer has led the program to 12 25-win seasons and 12 NCAA Tournament appearances.

Assistant Coaches

Jolette Law, Winston Gandy, Mary Wooley and Khadijah Sessions are the four assistant coaches of the South Carolina women’s basketball team. Jolette Law joined the program in June 2017 and is widely renowned as one of the best recruiters in the country.

Winston Gandy was added to Dawn Staley’s coaching staff in 2023. He has six years of experience at the NCAA Division I coaching level. Winston also served as the coordinator of player development for the Washington Wizards for three seasons.

Mary Wooley who served as the director of recruiting operations for three seasons with the Gamecocks returned back to the program in the summer of 2022. In 11 years of her coaching career, Wooley has helped the Gamecocks to a National Championship and three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Khadijah Sessions who joined Staley’s coaching staff in 2023 played an integral role for the Gamecocks as a player leading the squad in steals in both of her last two seasons at South Carolina. Last season, she helped the Gamecocks post their 10th undefeated National Championship campaign in NCAA history.
