The St. John's Red Storm is the men's basketball team representing St. John's University in the NCAA Division I Basketball. They are members of the Big East Conference. The Red Storm's history includes appearing in 30 NCAA Tournaments and qualifying twice at the Final Four in 1952 and 1985. The Red Storm has been crowned the champion of the NIT six times and won 22 conference titles. The Red Storm has produced NBA players and Hall of Famers such as Frank McGuire, Ron Artest, Bill Wennington, and many more. The team hosts its home games at Carnesecca Arena and Madison Square Garden.

Rick Pitino is the head coach of the St. John's Red Storm for the 2024–2025 season. Pitino was a Hall of Fame coach for St. John's Red Storm in the 2024-2025 season. With over 800 career wins, he has guided teams to two NCAA Championships in 1996 and 2013, and seven Final Fours qualifications. Pitino coached at Kentucky and Louisville before joining the Red Storm. Throughout his career, he won the Adolph Rupp Cup in 2009, twice the MAAC Coach of the Year in 2022 and 2023, and the C-USA Coach of the Year in 2005.
