She averaged 12.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. As a sophomore Jones earned a mention in the Pac-12 Defensive team and was an All-Pac-12 honoree. She averaged 12.3 points and 8.8 rebounds and led the conference with the most rebounds. Her junior season was shortened due to an injury, playing nine games and earning a selection in the Preseason All-Pac-12 team. Jones joined Texas as a junior for the 2022-2023 season, averaging 9.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. She set a record of 62 shot blocks in a season, which was the most in Texas history. During her senior season, Jones earned a mention in the All-Big 12 and played 33 games. She had remarkable performances against Oral Roberts where Jones scored 27 points and against Drexel where she scored 18 points in the NCAA Tournament.

Taylor Jones is from Forney, Texas, and attended Dallas Christian School. She was rated as a five-star recruit and was ranked as the No. 15 overall player by Prospects Nation. Jones led the team to three state championships and was also an honoree in the All-Texas list three times. Jones earned NAAPS National Defensive Player of the Year honors for posting a double-double in all 25 games she played as a senior. Jones scored over 2,000 points throughout her high school career and earned two District MVP recognitions. Jones was also invited to the USA Basketball U17 Trials in Colorado Springs and was named to the Adidas All-American team twice.
