The Tennessee Lady Volunteers women’s basketball team competes in the Southeastern Conference and is regarded as one of the top programs in the country. They made an NCAA tournament appearance every year since the 1981-82 season.

The Tennessee women’s basketball team has won 18 regular season championships and 17 SEC Tournament championships. The home games are played at the Thompson–Boling Arena at Food City Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Tennessee women’s Basketball Head Coach 2025

Kim Caldwell is in her first season with the Tennessee Lady Volunteers and made two coaching stops before her arrival at Knoxville. She spent one season at Marshall and seven seasons at her alma mater Glenville State.

In her eight seasons as a head coach, Caldwell compiled a 230–31 record and led her teams to eight NCAA Tournaments. She led Glenville State to six conference championships in seven seasons and was honored with the Maggie Dixon award after leading Marshall to the SBC championship in her lone season with the program.

Assistant Coaches

Gabe Lazo, Roman Tubner, Jenna Burdette, Angel Rizor, and Lexie Barrier are the five assistant coaches of the Tennessee women’s basketball team. Gabe Lazo joined the program in 2024 and is in his eighth season in his coaching career at the collegiate level.

Roman Tubner spent three seasons on Kristy Curry’s coaching staff at Alabama before joining Caldwell in the summer of 2024. During his tenure at Alabama, the program went 64-35 and gained three postseason berths.

Jenna Burdette who served as the associate head coach at Marshall during the 2023-24 season joined Caldwell’s coaching staff in 2024. She is in her sixth season of coaching and has helped teams with three conference championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Angel Rizor who joined Caldwell’s coaching staff in 2021 during her time at Glenville State is a part of Tennessee Lady Volunteers basketball coaching staff. Lexie Barrier joined the Tennessee coaching staff in 2024 after spending the last two seasons at James Madison University.
