Shannon played for Illinois Fighting Illini at the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign and East Texas Tech. A two-sport athlete taking part in football and basketball, Shannon Jr.’s career in sports kicked off at Lincoln Park High School. After three years with the Raiders, Shannon Jr. transferred to the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign.
