Rutgers' Kiyomi McMiller showed flashes of impeccable scoring and perimeter poise through the 14 games she played this season. A couple of weeks ago, the guard was named to back-to-back Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors and has become the Cosque Washington-coached squad's primary scorer.

But after her mysterious absence in the Scarlet Knights' 92-42 defeat to the USC Trojans on Sunday, there have been several speculations that she may be making her way to the college transfer portal. McMiller did not play in the conference fixture due to a coach's decision made by Washington, as revealed by her post on Instagram.

On Monday the guard's father, Mike McMiller, put out the transfer speculations in an exclusive interview with On3sports' Talia Goodman.

"We’re not looking to transfer."

Fans on X reacted to Mike McMiller's clearing of the air with their own takes on the unusual matter.

"They trying to get that coach fired. I know y’all see the play 😭," one user wrote.
"So, her plan is to get her coach fired to stay at Rutgers...," another speculated.
"He knows his child and the situation, unlike the rest of us," a user posted.

But, there have a number of spectators who have concluded that McMiller is already on her way out of the 8-7 overall Rutgers program.

"She’s gone lol," one user said.
"We’re??? Oh boy," another wrote.
"We're". "The Product". I wouldn't let this Kiyomi McMiller clown show anywhere near my team. Lol. #WNBA," a user shared.

Speculations and rumors aside, there's no denying that the Scarlett Knights could've used the services of McMiller. The team is in a 0-4 hole in conference play and will look to get their first win on Wednesday against the Minnesota Golden Gophers without their spitfire scorer.

Kiyomi McMiller had always planned on staying in Rutgers long-term, according to her father

Even though there are rumblings going on with what's really going on in the Kiyomi McMiller camp, her father asserted that she was always committed to the Rutgers program and that's still the plan, presumably moving forward.

"Kiyomi’s goal was to be at Rutgers and not ever transfer. That is still the goal. The goal is to finish the job," he stated.

In her first stint at college basketball, McMiller dazzled the scene with her offensive skills averaging 19.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
