High school sensations Cameron and Cayden Boozer passed acid test on Friday, leading the Columbus Explorers past Moravian Prep, 78-75, in the Mid-South Basketball Classic at the Harding Academy Gymnasium in Memphis. The Boozer twins showcased their talents against Moravian, which had a set of twin sensations of their own in Isaac and Eli Ellis.

The game was played six days before No. 2-ranked Class of 2025 prospect Cameron and No. 21-ranked Cayden will confirm their team commitments for the 2025-26 college basketball season. The twins trimmed down their choices to two — Miami and Duke — and the decision of the Boozer twins would highly affect the collegiate landscape moving forward.

The Explorers were caught in a flat start early as Moravian raced to a 15-6 lead before Columbus pulled closer to end the first period. Moravian Prep continued their surge in the second, firing 3-pointers to keep the Boozers and Explorers at bay.

Down by nine, the Boozers made a mini-run to cut the deficit to five, starting with Cameron's twinner followed by Cayden's defensive stop that led to a dunk with 24 seconds remaining. The Explorers scored two more to cut Moravian's lead to four at the half.

In the third frame, Columbus came closer, cutting the lead to one, 38-37, but back-to-back 3-pointers and a fastbreak gave Moravian another nine-point edge in the first few minutes of the quarter. The Explorers reduced it to five before the start of the payoff period.

Columbus surged to a six-point lead in the fourth quarter after scoring 11 unanswered points but Moravian retaliated to put them back up by three with a little over two minutes left in the game. Cayden and Cameron Boozer scored four straight points to hand the Explorers a 76-72 edge but Moravian answered back with a three to trim the lead to one.

Columbus increased the lead to three with nine seconds remaining and held on to the lead until the final buzzer sounded, giving the Explorers the victory.

Boozer twins set recruitment decision on Oct. 10

Cameron and Cayden Boozer have announced that their final decision on which among Duke and Miami as their final choice on Oct. 10. Numerous media outlets reported they already eliminated Florida from the race, leaving the Blue Devils and the Hurricanes as the schools who are about to benefit from their decision.

If the Boozer twins pick Miami, it will lift the Hurricanes' 2025 recruitment class to No. 2 in the nation as they already secured the commitment of four-star shooting guard Matthew Able (per caneswarning.com).

Duke will also receive a shot in the arm if the Boozers chose their father's alma mater. Carlos Boozer played for Duke in 1999-2002 and won a national championship in 2001, teaming up with Jay Williams and Mike Dunleavy Jr. The Blue Devils are one of the programs that have a reputation for training one-and-done players who want to go to the NBA after one year in college.

The twins have excellent stats in Columbus with Cameron averaging 20.7 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.5 steals and 2.1 blocks per game. Cayden, on the other hand, tallied 16.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 5.1 apg and 1.8 spg. Both are projected to be sure-fire starters for the two schools in the 2025-26 season.
