He began his high school career at St. Catherine's High School, where he amassed 1,589 career points and led the team to a Division 3 state championship in his senior year. As a senior, he averaged 18.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists per contest. Hunter was also named the MVP at the 2021 Allen Iverson Roundball Classic. Following his prep career, Hunter was tabbed as the No.31 overall prospect in the 2021 recruiting class by Rivals.
