The UCLA Bruins women’s basketball team was founded in 1974. The Bruins women’s team started its journey as a part of the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) before they entered the NCAA in 1984. The UCLA Bruins are in the Big Ten Conference, as of March 2025. They are coached by Cori Close, who has been at the helm since the 2011/12 season.

UCLS Bruins NCAA Tournament History and Appearances

In 1978, the UCLA women's basketball team earned a national championship title from the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW). Before the NCAA gained control of women's collegiate athletics and launched the first women's NCAA tournament in 1982, the AIAW tournament persisted for ten years. The UCLA Bruins women’s team has qualified for the NCAA tournament 20 times: 1983, 1985, 1990, 1992, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024, 2025 (as of March 2025).
