The UConn women's basketball team has gotten off to an excellent start this season with both Paige Bueckers and Sarah Strong playing at a high level for the Huskies. Bueckers issued a one-word response after Strong was named the Big East freshman of the week following UConn's winning start to this campaign.
Bueckers was quick to congratulate her teammate's incredible feat by posting the following one-word response on her Instagram story.
"TriSARAHtops," Paige Bueckers wrote.
Strong has posted impressive numbers at UConn so far
The 2024 North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year deserves all the praise she has been getting recently after her game-high 17-points on her UConn debut against Boston University Thursday. Strong also grabbed four boards and secured three assists during that game, which ended with the Huskies earning a dominant 86-32 win.
On Sunday, the gifted forward continued to impress for Geno Auriemma's team as she helped the Huskies secure a convincing 86-49 victory over South Florida. Strong finished the game with 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Following the win against Boston, Auriemma was full of praise when addressing Strong's growing influence on his team at both ends of the floor.
“Sarah is able to contribute so many different ways."
“She’s only going to get better from here, but some of the steals she gets are ridiculous. She just has such great hands and a great feel for the game, and she’s so quick with the ball and without the ball … We just don’t have the luxury of waiting for her to be great, so we’re going to force it.”
Bueckers and Strong have both got the potential to be future stars in the WNBA. For now, the dynamic duo is preparing for a matchup against the North Carolina Tar Heels Friday.
