On Thursday, UConn star Paige Bueckers shared her prayers to those who are affected by the recent Los Angeles wildfires. On her Instagram story, Bueckers reposted a prayer for the victims entitled, "A Prayer for Those Impacted by the California Wildfires."
The prayer was originally by @kingofsolomon on Instagram and it read:
"Hey God, for every person who is experiencing loss and devastation, for every person who is overwhelmed over what will happen to them, their house, and community, for every person struggling.
Please be with them. Keep your hand on their heart as they navigate this. Give wisdom and strength to those fighting the fires. May we find ways to help those in need and rebuild."
Beforehand this upload, Bueckers had also reposted a carousel post by @localemagazine on Instagram, which shared important resources to help and support those affected by the wildfires.
Earlier on Jan. 7, raging wildfires struck Greater Los Angeles with its origin being traced to the Pacific Palisades and Malibu areas, causing hundreds of thousands of residents to evacuate the several safety centers.
Paige Bueckers is putting up another awe-inspiring season
Bueckers is currently in her fourth year with the UConn Huskies and it is her last stint suiting up for Geno Auriemma. She is expected to declare for the 2025 WNBA draft and she is projected to be the No. 1 pick, potentially going to the Dallas Wings.
In the 2024-2025 season, the senior sensation is averaging 19.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.1 steals per game. Paige Bueckers' biggest goal this season is to win the NCAA championship. The last time the Huskies won a title was in 2016, which also marked the end of Breanna Stweart's four-straight championships-winning era in UConn.
During her time with the Huskies, the guard came close a few times, with a championship game in 2022, their first in six years. However, UConn lost to the then-No.1 seeded South Carolina. Bueckers also led the Huskies to the Final Four as a freshman and as a red-shirt junior.
Paige Bueckers and the UConn Huskies' next game will be a Big East conference matchup against the Georgetown Hoyas on Saturday.
