The Virginia Tech Hokies is the men's basketball team representing the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in the NCAA Division. The Hokies won one Metro Conference Tournament in 1979 and the ACC Tournament Championship in 2022. The Hokies have appeared thirteen times in the NCAA Tournament, reaching the Sweet Sixteen two times and in the Elite Eight once in 1967. They also won the regular season Southern Conference in 1960 and have appeared in 15 National Invitation Tournaments. The Hokies helped many athletes to the professional realm, including Zabian Dowdell, Malcolm Delaney, Erick Green, and many more.

Virginia Tech Hokies Basketball Head Coach 2024-2025

Mike Young is the head coach of the Virginia Tech Hokies for the 2024–2025 season. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Emory & Henry College before working his way up through Radford University and Wofford College, where he became the head coach in 2002 and left in 2019. His Wofford team made five NCAA appearances, helping him win four Coach of the Year awards. In 2019, Young was named Virginia Tech's head coach. With Young at the helm, the Hokies won the ACC Tournament in 2022 and he was also named the ACC Coach of the Year in 2021.
