Former Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari was in attendance to watch La Familia in action during their semifinal matchup in The Basketball Tournament (TBT) on Friday. La Familia lost the game to Carmen's Crew and were eliminated.

Calipari traveled to Philadelphia to show his support to his former players. The first-year Kentucky alumni team met with Calipari during pregame warmups and provided a warm reception.

"JOHN CALIPARI IS HERE!!!!!!! The entire La Familia team went up to @CoachCalArk before the game and he hugged each player! Wow, this is what “La Familia” is all about!" TBT shared via Twitter.

Calipari was not the only ex-Wildcat at the event. He was accompanied by Tyrese Maxey and Justin Edwards. Calipari watched the TBT Final Four courtside at the Daskalakis Athletic Center with Justin Edwards.

"What I'm proud of is Enes came, Isaiah came, Justin came, Tyrese Maxaey came. We got guys coming to watch the family play,” Calipari told TBT. "And then the guys that are doing this and are battling — watched them on TV. I told them we get to Philly I'm coming. I'm here for them."

Despite all the support, the UK's La Familia was unable to get a win, falling two victories short of winning TBT and claiming the $1 million prize money. In Friday night's loss, Kerem Kanter led La Familia with 17 points, while Eric Bledsoe, Willie Cauley-Stein and Andrew Harrison also scored double figures.

John Calipari discusses offseason deals and pre-season expectations

It is a new era for the Arkansas Razorbacks men's basketball team with the three-time national coach of the year John Calipari taking over the program. Calipari led Kentucky to NCAA glory in 2012.

At a press conference on Monday, Calipari had a briefing about the Razorbacks' summer preparations and emphasized the need to create a new culture in Fayetteville.

"I'm trying to get them to think like kings," Calipari said. "Kings think different than we think. And I've got to get these kids to understand. I want you to think big and dream big, but you must work bigger. But your dreams for yourself and your teams have to be big."
"Just make sure you're a little patient. It doesn't happen overnight. Look, there's no magic wand up here. They're not computers. Said that many times, this isn't a video game. Got to work on their mind," he added.

John Calipari had to build the Razorbacks roster from scratch since thirteen players from the previous season left the team. He added 12 new players: six from the transfer portal and the remaining six are high school athletes.
