Former NBA star Carmelo Anthony's son, Kiyan Anthony, had an impressive Nike EYBL Peach Jam performance, helping Team Melo to a fifth-place finish in the 2024 EYBL PIT standings. But it was not just his scoring that caught attention.
Footage uploaded by Overtime on Instagram shows Kiyan being involved in a heated argument with an opposition player, right next to where Carmelo was sitting.
On July 19, Anthony's son played against Team Durant in a Nike EYBL Pool B game and had a confrontation with Jadyn Harris. The 10-time NBA All-Star seated next to them interfered, preventing the situation from going further. He shoved Harris away before other players came on the scene. Later, Anthony was observed whining to game officials.
Team Melo won the game with a score of 73-66, thanks to Kiyan Anthony scoring an impressive 27 points and grabbing three assists. The 6-foot-5 SG, one of the highly touted recruits of the 2025 class, will play his final year of high school basketball at Long Island Lutheran in New York.
According to 247Sports, Kiyan has received 19 offers from different schools, including USC, Syracuse, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio State, and Rutgers. He went on two campus visits in October 2023 to Florida State and his father's alma mater, Syracuse, but has not yet decided to commit to any schools.
A five-star forward wants Kiyan Anthony to join him at Syracuse
Sadiq White Jr., a 6-foot-7 small forward, made his commitment to Syracuse and also wanted Carmelo's son, Kiyan Anthony, to sign for the Orangemen. White Jr. told Sam Lance of Zagsblog that he is working on convincing Kiyan to join him in upstate New York.
"I'm trying to ... bring Kiyan home," White said. "We're trying to make it big man. I'm doing my part."
Moreover, Kiyan's Peach Jam teammate, Tyler Jackson, another Syracuse target, highlighted the chemistry he shared with Kiyan and believes that if they were to team up again, they could achieve great things on the court.
"We’ve been going at it since we were little. I actually grew up playing in his father’s center off Lafayette Street, down in the Melo Center," Jackson said.
"I love Syracuse... that’s been Melo program back winning the national championship. Me and Kiyan are really trying to bring another national championship. We’re gonna — whatever school he goes too, whatever school I choose — if we were to choose to go to Syracuse together — we're going to bring a national championship."
Kiyan Anthony, who made the trip to Cuse last year, is considering a second visit to the campus this offseason.
