LSU's Flau'jae Johnson and USC's JuJu Watkins are two of the rising young stars in women's college basketball. On Thursday, Johnson invited Watkins to her podcast "Best of Both Worlds," where the two hoopers had a candid conversation about their moments, NIL and icons who have inspired them.
Johnson asked Watkins out of their schools — LSU and USC — which has produced more legends.
"Trying to go back and forth naming LSU legend and USC legend until we run out," Johnson said.
Here is the list of Flau'jae Johnson's LSU Tigers legends:
- Shaquille O'Neal
- Pete Maravich
- Seimone Augustus
- Sylvia Fowles
- Joe Burrow
Here is the list of JuJu Watkins' USC Trojans legends:
- Tina Thompson
- Cheryl Miller
- Cynthia Cooper
- DeMar DeRozan
After they each named four icons from their respective colleges, Johnson almost ran out of names before pulling NFL star Joe Burrow out of nowhere to win the contest.
She then named another NFL player, Jayden Daniels, as an honorable mention. Watkins also regretted not mentioning Caleb Williams, the first pick in this year's NFL draft by the Chicago Bears.
The duo also discussed their one major inspiration growing up. Johnson mentioned she has been the biggest fan of Kobe Bryant.
"Just watching Kobe, he was really it for me," Johnson said. "He was the one I watched, like his mindset."
Watkins cited LeBron James.
"I say as far as a legend probably LeBron," Watkins said. Learning about his story to literally being like the greatest, and he's still going. Just to hear about his story, it's just really inspiring."
Angel Reese acknowledges love lost between her and Flau'jae Johnson
Flau'jae Johnson and Angel Reese were not just teammates but also close friends during their time at LSU. However, after Reese left Baton Rouge to play in the WNBA this season, it appears that the bond they once shared has been lost.
During the first episode of Reese's podcast, "Unapologetically Angel," aired on Thursday, the Chicago Sky star spoke about her fractured relationship with her former teammate.
"I still support Flau'jae. We aren't as close as we used to be," Reese said. "And there's no hard feelings or anything, but we aren't as close as we used to be. That's why people always expect us to still be posting each other and stuff like that. But, like, we aren't as close. It happens."
Johnson and Reese played together at LSU for two seasons. Their freshman year, they won the national championship. They are also featured in Prime Video's docuseries "The Money Game."
