UConn basketball standout Paige Bueckers and LSU guard Flau’jae Johnson put their on-court rivalry aside and were spotted sitting next to each other during the WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday in Phoenix, Arizona. The NIL college stars lit up the arena with their stylish outfits.
Bueckers and Johnson were captured posing in a video shared on the WNBA's Instagram account.
"The girlies are courtside to cheer on their friends," WNBA captioned the post.
Bueckers wore blue jeans shorts and a denim puffer jacket, while the LSU basketball player rocked a metallic top and red pants. In another clip, they were vibing along to the beat of Johnson's rap song 'Came Out As A Beast.' Johnson launched her debut album 'Best of Both Worlds' in June featuring rap icon Lil Wayne.
Moreover, Bueckers also met with WNBA rookie and former college rival Caitlin Clark during the match. She got up from her seat, walked to the court, hugged Clark, chatted with her for a bit, and then went back to her seat.
Their quick hug and chat went viral as those who did not see it live took to social media to watch it.
Paige Bueckers meets WNBA legends Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi
Paige Bueckers had the privilege to meet with two WNBA icons, Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi, during the WNBA All-Star Weekend. It was a special moment for the current UConn star as both legends also played for the Huskies during their days in the NCAA.
The Mercury's X handle shared a photo of her moment with Taurasi and also highlighted how Bueckers' hair looked in it.
"Paige’s WNBA world tour brought her to the valley. everyone plz take a moment to admire the side profile view of the slick back buns," the Phoenix Mercury captioned the post on Twitter.
Paige Bueckers simply responded to the post with a "GOAT" emoji.
Taurasi started the game for Team USA alongside Breanna Stewart, A'ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray, and Jewell Loyd. She contributed 14 points, six rebounds, and five assists, in 20 minutes.
Bueckers' meetup with Sue Bird also happened after the game. The four-time WNBA champion was wearing a UConn jersey, which was signed by Bueckers. They then posed for a picture together with Megan Rapinoe.
Sue Bird spent four seasons at UConn and led the Huskies to two national championships in 2000 and 2002. Both Bird and Bueckers have been recognized as National Player of the Year and Big East Player of the Year.
