The West Virginia Mountaineers is the men's basketball team representing West Virginia University in the NCAA Division I Basketball. The West Virginia Mountaineers men's basketball team has participated in 31 NCAA tournaments, including two Final Four appearances in 1959 and 2010. They were the runners-up in 1959. The team won the SoCon Conference tournament seven times, A10 Conference two times and a Big East Conference in 2010. The Mountaineers also won the EIC regular season conference in 1935, the SoCon conference 10 times and A10 three times. They play home games at the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown, West Virginia. The program has 1,792 wins, placing it among the top 25 in NCAA history.
West Virginia Mountaineers Basketball Head Coach 2024-2025
Darian DeVries is the head coach of the West Virginia Mountaineers for the 2024–2025 season. DeVries was hired in 2024 as an interim coach to replace Josh Eilert. He coached the Drake Bulldogs from 2018-2024 and concluded the 2020-2021 season with a 18-0 record. DeVries also guided his teams to two Missouri Valley Conference tournaments in 2023 and 2024, and one MVC regular season championship in 2019. For his remarkable career, DeVries earned awards such as the Hugh Durham Award in 2019 and the MVC Coach of the Year twice in 2019 and 2021.
