Missouri men's basketball star Caleb Grill suffered a head and neck injury during Wednesday night's home game against Lindenwood. According to team spokesperson Jason Weniskey, Grill was taken to a local hospital after the Tigers' 81-61 win in Columbia. Weniskey informed that Grill is responsive and him being taken to hospital was for precaution.

At Mizzou Arena in Columbia, while contesting for a rebound, an unintentional hit from an opposing player caused Grill's neck to snap back as he fell down the floor. At the time, the score was 19-17 in favor of Missouri with 10:18 remaining in the first half.

Here's the video of the play that injured Grill:

After 10 minutes on the court where he received medical attention, Caleb Grill was taken off the floor on a stretcher. However, all seemed well, as Grill drew a thumbs-up, indicating all was well.

Missouri coach updates about Caleb Grill's injury

It's never a pleasing sight when a player is taken off the floor on a stretcher, but as per the look of things, the situation isn't that bad for Caleb Grill.

In the press conference, Missouri coach Dennis Gates updated the media that he awaits Grill's CT scan results but seems positive.

"We're awaiting results of a CT scan," Gates said after the game, via the Daily Tribune. "Whenever you have a head or neck injury, you want to be (cautious) and have some caution with that. And that's what that was all about, making sure that he was OK. He was responsive, talking the entire time when I was down there in the huddle with him. He even rolled out with his thumb up. So, that was a good sign to see in that respect.
"To my knowledge, he was responsive with us, leaving this arena with his thumbs up, rolling out," Gates added. "And again, (caution) is the area we're going to always take when you get an elbow in the back of the neck, head area. So, credit to our team, our EMS team. They did a great job, and I'm very thankful."

Before going down with an injury, Caleb Grill who has been the team's leading scorer this season, had two points and one steal in seven minutes. This season, he's averaging 15.5 points along with 3.2 rebounds, 1.2 assist and 1.3 steals in 23 minutes per game.
