ESPN's senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski is taking a bold new step. He has told ESPN that he'll be becoming the general manager of the St. Bonaventure men's basketball program.

Andrew Marchand from The Athletic reports Wojnarowski is walking away from nearly $20 million by leaving ESPN. Woj's has had an incredible career spanning almost 40 years, including a standout seven-year run at ESPN.

"I am retiring from a dream job at ESPN and am so incredibly grateful for my time and experiences with the World Wide Leader," he said on Wednesday [via ESPN].

The news sparked a flurry of reactions from college basketball fans.

“What’s happening?” One fan tweeted on X (formerly Twitter).

“The final Woj bomb … end of an era,” another tweeted.

Wojnarowski is a St. Bonaventure alumnus who has maintained close ties with the program, even serving as a fundraiser for the school's collective in recent years.

His move to the GM role reflects a growing trend in college basketball, as managing player transfers and roster changes has become key.

Adrian Wojnarowski shared his gratitude for his time at ESPN

ESPN’s senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski is taking on a new role as the general manager of the men's basketball program at St. Bonaventure. Reflecting on his next chapter, he said via ESPN:

"It is a thrill of a lifetime to be able to return to a university and community that I love in a role of service to our student-athletes, coaches and institution."
"I am hopeful that I can bring value in a lot of areas to our basketball program and open doors for our young men's futures in ways both professionally and personally."

Wojnarowski has been with ESPN since 2017, following a career with Yahoo Sports and The Record in New Jersey.

Wojnarowski reminisced about his journey in a heartfelt social media post. He wrote that he grew up a few miles from ESPN's campus, dreaming of becoming a sportswriter. The Hartford Courant gave him his first byline 37 years ago, and he never stopped chasing that feeling.

After years of reporting on other teams, Wojnarowski is excited to return to his own, bringing his experience and passion to St. Bonaventure.
