LSU and South Carolina will lock horns in a widely-anticipated showdown between women's basketball powerhouses in the Southeastern Conference. Originally scheduled to tip off on Thursday night, the SEC reset the game to Friday at 5:00 p.m. ET due to winter weather in parts of southern Louisiana.
The decision comes a day after a winter storm made travel hazardous in subtropical communities particularly in parts of the Florida Panhandle, Georgia and the coastal Carolinas on Wednesday, as per AP.
It is a rematch of last year's SEC championship which the Gamecocks won 79-72. MiLaysia Fulwiley led the Dawn Staley-coached squad with 24 points. The win fueled South Carolina's surge in the 2023-24 season, ending with an 87-75 conquest of Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes in the national championship.
Both teams are coming off big victories. South Carolina (18-1, 6-0 SEC) beat Oklahoma 101-60 while LSU (20-0, 5-0) demolished Florida 80-63 to move three wins away from tying the 2022-23 team for the best start in program history.
The first loss of that record-setting team came at the hands of the Gamecocks. The setbacks to their SEC rivals could be another riddle to solve for the Kim Mulkey-coached squad as their last win against South Carolina was in the 2011-12 season.

What to expect from Tigers vs Gamecocks matchup?
LSU's unbeaten record will be on the line against South Carolina, which is on a 13-game winning streak. This is the toughest challenge for the Lady Tigers who have been in cruise control for most of the season.
The trio of Flau'Jae Johnson, Aneesah Morrow and Mikaylah Williams will face a tough task as they take on the deep South Carolina lineup composed of Te-Hina Paopao, Chloe Kitts, Joyce Edwards, Raven Johnson, MiLaysia Fulwiley and Tessa Johnson.
The Gamecocks will be a woman down due to Ashlyn Watkins' season-ending knee injury, but bigs Sakima Walker and Maryam Dauda are expected to fill in for the high-leaping forward.
On the other hand, LSU might need Kailyn Gilbert, Sa'Myah Smith, Last-Tear Poa and Jersey Wolfenbarger to spark the Lady Tigers' offense in case the main trio of Johnson, Morrow and Williams gets shackled by South Carolina's defense.
