The Yale Bulldogs is the men's basketball team representing Yale University in the NCAA Division I Basketball. The Yale Bulldogs compete in the Ivy League. The Bulldogs were established in 1896 and play their home games at Payne Whitney Gymnasium, which has a capacity of 2,532 fans. Yale won four pre-tournament Premo-Porretta and two Helms championships. They also won three Conference tournaments in 2019, 2022, and 2024 and reached the NCAA Elite Eight in 1949. They made seven appearances in the NCAA tournament and finished twice in the round of 32 in 2016 and 2024.

James Jones is the head coach of the Yale Bulldogs for the 2024–2025 season. Jones has been Yale Bulldogs men's basketball head coach since 1999. Jones played basketball at Albany from 1982 to 1986. He was an assistant coach at Albany, Yale, and Ohio before taking the Yale program. With a career record of 404-317 which is a 56% win rate, Jones helped Yale to win six Ivy League regular-season titles in 2002, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020, and 2023 and three Ivy League tournament championships in 2019, 2022, and 2024. For his remarkable career, he earned the Hugh Durham Award in 2016 and the Ben Jobe Award in 2019, along with four Ivy League Coach of the Year honors.
