South Carolina coach Dawn Staley praised her former center Kamilla Cardoso who wore US Women's National Football Team player Trinity Rodman's No. 5 jersey when she arrived before Chicago Sky's game against the Washington Mystics on Wednesday at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago.

She posted the photos on Instagram and gained more than 53,000 likes.

Staley, who guided the Gamecocks to a perfect 38-0 record en route to their third national championship, hailed Cardoso's fashion choice.

Kamilla Cardoso has been a key factor in Chicago Sky's campaign in the 2024 WNBA season. The 6-foot-7 center has averaged 9.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.4 blocks per game.

She has played in 30 games, shooting 52.2% from the field and 73.1% from the free throw line. Cardoso averages 3.3 fouls per game.

The South Carolina standout lit up the scoreboard in September, tallying 14.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.8 blocks. In the Sky's last game against Washington on Wednesday, Cardoso scored 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists and one block while shooting 44.4% from the field and 83.3% from the free-throw line.

Chicago is eighth in the WNBA standings, fighting for a playoff spot with Washington and Atlanta as the WNBA approaches the final few weeks of the regular season.

The Brazilian's frontcourt presence is badly needed in the coming games, especially after rebounding leader Angel Reese is out due to a hairline fracture on her left wrist. Reese underwent surgery to repair the fracture and will be in a cast for six weeks.
