Zakai Zeigler is an American basketball point guard who will play his final season of collegiate basketball with the Tennessee Volunteers. He started his high school basketball career at Immaculate Conception High School where he averaged 20.0 points and 4.6 assists per game during his senior year. His breakout campaign was during the 2021 Peach Jam where he averaged 15.3 points and 5.5 assists per game. Zeigler was reportedly on the verge of quitting basketball before Peach Jam as he received only one offer from Saint Peter's. Zeigler eventually committed to the Tennessee Volunteers and was one of the top five recruits in the 2021 recruiting class.
Zakai Zeigler began his collegiate basketball journey with the Vols despite receiving offers from Boston College, Manhattan, Minnesota, Southern Illinois and Wichita State among others. During his freshman year, Zeigler led the program in steals 12 times and ranked second on the team with 1.7 steals per game. The following year as a sophomore, Grant averaged 10.7 points and 5.4 assists before he ended his season prematurely with an ACL injury. Last season, Zeigler earned a crucial role on the starting lineup for the Vols and ended up winning the SEC Defensive Player of the Year award in 2024.

He was on pace to win the SEC Defensive Player of the Year when a season-ending ACL injury in a game against Arkansas ended his campaign prematurely.
