While EA Sports put plenty of attention to detail into College Football 25, there's certainly one glaring omission. Given the amount of money needed to secure NIL rights to all FBS teams, EA decided not to include FCS teams in the video game. That would have been a great deep-dive feature of the game.
Here are 10 FCS teams we'd have liked to have seen in College Football 25.
10 best FCS teams that we miss in College Football 25
#10, Chattanooga
First, they're the Moccasins, which alone would justify their presence. Chattanooga won eight games last year and has a pair of great returning receivers in Justin Whatley and Sam Phillips. It would be a nice bonus if EA also brought in Finley Stadium, the Mocs' home which used to host the FCS title game until 2009.
#9, Western Carolina
The Catamounts isn't a mascot you're going to exactly find many other places. Another reason Western Carolina would work: It led FCS in total offense a year ago with 504.1 yards per game. Quarterback Cole Gonzales is the star EA didn't realize it needed.
#8, Idaho
The Vandals? OK, if for no other reason, Idaho should be here as a throwback to the days when they were an FBS team and were included in the annual EA game. They also won nine games last year and have returner Abraham Williams, who would be a blast to see in College Football 25.
#7, Southern Illinois
If you hadn't noticed, cool mascots are a common feature of this list. The Salukis meet that standard. They won eight games last year and have knocked off an FBS team in three of the last four years.
#6, William & Mary
The Tribe are better than their 6-5 record would indicate. Also, as an elite academic school, that could factor into the game. William & Mary might be a tough matchup until midterm exams bench everybody who isn't going to class. College Football 25 could up the difficulty here.
#5, South Dakota
The Coyotes won 10 games a year ago. They're often overshadowed in their own state, but with an offense that returns 10 starters, South Dakota would be a fun, veteran team for players looking for an FCS challenge.
#4, Montana State
The Bobcats, who won eight games last year, would be a fun team for ground-game lovers. A year ago, they led FCS in rushing, and QB Tommy Mellott would lead a run-first offense with style.
#3, North Dakota State
The nine-time champions have to be in the game, EA! A year ago, they won 11 games and reached the semifinals of FCS. The Bison would be a fan favorite in a hurry and might even shine in a lower-tier FBS league.
#2, Montana
Again, we've got a great mascot here with the Grizzlies. They've also got a massive weapon in do-everything returner/receiver Junior Bergen, who would be a great player to use in College Football 25.
#1, South Dakota State
The back-to-back defending champions would be great. Let players test-drive the Jackrabbits in, say, the Sun Belt and see how the FCS power would measure up. QB Mark Gronowski would surprise many.
