The dynasty mode of EA Sports' College Football 25 is like a chance to write an alternative version of college football history. Within that alternate history, there are numerous storylines begging to be followed. College Football 25 only allows players to go 30 years into the future, so a 2055 cutoff date runs the game. But even within three decades, here are some great storylines to follow.
10 best storylines to follow in College Football 25 Dynasty Mode
#1.Does expanding the CFP help?
College football is adding a 12-team playoff in time for January 2025. But will that addition clear up the college football postseason picture? CF25 could provide a clue. Three decades is enough times to see if No. 12 seeds are routinely winning the title or deserving No. 13 teams are left at home. Sure, it's not reality, but it's one guess at what the future of reality will be.
#2. The conference shuffle
Granted, many of the reasons that have led to geographically random mega-conferences aren't in College Football 25. But if you want a clue as to how Texas and Oklahoma will fare in the SEC or Washington or Oregon will do in the Big Ten, College Football 25 can hazard an early guess.
#3. Who's the next Group of Five monster?
What team will emerge as the next Boise State or Appalachian State? There's nothing scientific about it, but playing three-decade dynasties will give a clue as to the computer's thoughts on the viability of Tulane or Memphis or Coastal Carolina.
#4. Does the passing increase continue?
Thirty years ago, college football was largely a ground-based sport. Now, it's an aerial bombardment first and foremost. What will 2050s college football resemble? It's interesting to see if Dynasty Mode ends with LSU and Georgia running the option.
#5. Is this the end of Alabama?
One of the burning questions on the college football landscape is the future of Alabama. With Kalen DeBoer replacing Nick Saban, can Alabama just continue as a superpower of the sport or will the Tide just be another SEC school in a decade? It's worth seeing what the EA computer models do with the Tide.
#6. How will the Deion experiment play out?
Talking about a college football debating point with no clear answer, the future of Deion Sanders is certainly a conundrum. Based on their preseason rating of Colorado, EA is higher on Coach Prime than many. Does the game project him to build up Colorado or move on to Florida State or just stumble soon?
#7. Does Ryan Day win at Ohio State or get replaced?
EA Sports has plenty of faith in Ryan Day's Ohio State team. Anybody who's played a game against OSU can attest to that. But does EA see Day winning an elusive national title or OSU replacing him in the next few seasons? Dynasty Mode could hazard a guess.
#8. Who wins the Heisman?
Granted, beyond another season or two, the game won't provide much help. But with genuine players on board for the short term, handicapping the next Heisman winner or two could get a boost from Dynasty Mode.
#9. Will Nebraska ever come back?
For years, Texas was the team that was annually rumored to be "back," but annually failed to produce. That said, Nebraska is running on seven straight losing seasons. It's worth seeing if Dynasty mode foresees a Huskers rebound or a long line of 5-7 seasons to come.
#10. Who will rule the 21st century?
Nearly a quarter of the way into the century of football, the team of the century mantle is still very much up for grabs. Alabama would have to be an early favorite, but Georgia, LSU, Clemson and even Ohio State could still be in the running. Who does EA think will add several more titles to the case and be the presumptive team of the century as of 2055? Play it out and see.
