The 2024 college football regular season is over, and as a result, it is time for bowl games. It is an exciting time of the year for fans as only teams who have reached the minimum threshold of six wins can participate in a bowl game.
However, not all bowl games are created equally, and some are bigger than others. These are 10 of the biggest college football bowl games fans should not miss.
10 biggest college football bowl games this postseason

These are 10 of the biggest college football bowl games of the year. However, it is not counting the games in the college football playoff which should all be appointment viewing.
#10 LA Bowl
The LA Bowl features the No. 24-ranked UNLV Rebels and the California Golden Bears. The Rebels are coming off a 21-7 loss in the Mountain West Championship Game to No. 9-ranked Boise State. The only issue with this matchup is that UNLV's coach and California's quarterback will not be available.
#9 Military Bowl
An in-state rivalry matchup in a bowl game is always exciting, and that is what the Military Bowl has between East Carolina and NC State. The Pirates came on strong, winning four of their last five games to qualify for a bowl game.
The Wolfpack also came in clutch to end its season, winning against UNC 35-30 in its final game to qualify for a bowl game.
#8 Liberty Bowl
Arkansas and Texas Tech will play in the Liberty Bowl in a matchup between two teams that, at different points in the season, had hoped to make their respective championship games.
These teams have even played before this season, with the Aggies coming out with a 21-17 victory over the Razorbacks on September 28. If it's another close matchup, it should be an exciting game.
#7 Music City Bowl
No. 20-ranked Missouri and Iowa will face off in the Music City Bowl. Any non-playoff bowl game with a ranked team should be exciting, and this one features two teams that were ranked at different points in the season.
Iowa was exciting this season, finding non-traditional ways to win. However, several players on both teams will be absent because of NFL draft opt-outs.
#6 Birmingham Bowl
Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt will matchup in a bowl game between two teams that contributed to a few contenders missing the college football playoff. Vanderbilt had an impressive 40-35 win over Alabama early in the season, which proved to be the difference in their missing the playoffs. Georgia Tech handed Miami its first loss of the season which ended its playoff hopes.
#5 Cure Bowl
Although they are not traditionally popular teams, this is a matchup between two conference champions in Jacksonville State and Ohio. It should be a run-heavy matchup between two dual-threat quarterbacks.
#4 ReliaQuest Bowl
Before the season, fans would have thought a matchup between Alabama and Michigan in the postseason would have been in the college football playoff. Instead, it is in the ReliaQuest Bowl and should be an exciting matchup.
#3 Citrus Bowl
The Citrus Bowl is always one of the biggest games of the year, and it did not disappoint in its team selection. No. 14-ranked South Carolina will take on No. 21-ranked Illinois. Both teams had opportunities to make the college football playoff but came up short.
#2 Alamo Bowl
The Alama Bowl features the No. 23-ranked Colorado Buffaloes and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter taking on No. 17-ranked BYU. Coach Prime has promised that all of his star players, including Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, will participate.
#1 Pop-Tarts Bowl
Of all the bowl games, this one between the No. 16-ranked Miami and the No. 19-ranked Iowa State could be the most exciting. It is one of the only bowl games with two high-ranked teams, and it features one of the Heisman finalists, Miami QB Cam Ward.
