College football has special pageantry, unlike other sports. And that need for expressiveness can culminate in some pretty wild and intense celebrations. Here are 10 of the wildest, craziest or even most trend-setting college football celebrations.

Top 10 college football celebrations

#10. Florida State's Tomahawk Chop

Sometimes, the celebration isn't just about the players. Florida State's deafening and imposing Tomahawk Chop hasn't gotten much action in 2024 with an 0-3 start. But if you don't remember, it hits hard. Check out this 2016 chop:

#9. Texas and "Hook 'Em Horns"

There have been a million controversies about Texas' "Hook 'em Horns" celebration, which is certainly easy to ridicule. Maybe the Longhorns are laughing loudest, though.

#8. LSU doing "The Griddy"

All celebrations don't have to involve the mascot or even anything except a love of cheering a big play and a little pop culture. Witness the LSU Tigers doing "The Griddy." How huge did this get? Well, big enough to get curmudgeonly LSU women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey into the party.

#7. 1990s Miami Hurricanes dances

The bad-boy, early 1990s Miami teams took celebrating to a whole other level. ESPN breaks down some of the issues with Miami celebrations in this clip.

#6. Cam Newton channels "Superman"

Auburn and NFL star Cam Newton knew a thing or two about celebration. His Superman pose was probably his most famous celebration, but it was far from his only one. Here, he pops the Superman after catching a touchdown pass.

Technically, it's more pregame ritual than celebration, but maybe it's just a celebration of teamwork and brotherhood. In any case, Hawaii busting out the haka dance is wild.

#4. Johnny "Money" Manziel's cash call

Once a bright and shining star, Johnny Manziel's money sign is about the only real impact he's left on college football. Ah, what might have been.

#3. Desmond Howard's Heisman pose

Still, the gutsiest celebration ever probably goes to Desmond Howard. Breaking off the Heisman pose was a foreshadowing of his Heisman win. That's gutty.

#2. Shedeur Sanders' "Watch Flex"

Colorado's high-octane, attention-drawing quarterback has brought his own unique touch to college football celebrations. Shedeur Sanders flashes his expensive timepiece at fans, cameras and anywhere else he can draw attention. It's certainly a 2024 thing.

#1. Deion Sanders showboating

Celebrating runs in the Sanders family. Deion was no mean hand at the post-play theatrics, as he proved with his unique high-stepping celebrations on play after play. Deion learned his skills at Florida State but loved to unveil them even well into his NFL career.
