The AP preseason poll for the 2024 college football season has been released. AP Preseason Poll 2024: College football's top 25 programs

#1 Georgia

The Georgia Bulldogs are the top-ranked team heading into the 2024 college football season. Georgia is favored to win the national championship after failing to make the playoffs last season. The Bulldogs won back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022.

#2 Ohio State

The Ohio State Buckeyes are the ranked No. 2 inthe AP preseason poll. Ohio State lost to Michigan for the third straight season last year and failed to make the college football playoff. The Buckeyes open its 2024 season on Aug. 31 against Akron.

#3 Oregon

The Oregon Ducks are third in the AP's preseason Top 25. Oregon lost in the Pac-12 championship last season, ending their hopes of making the playoff. The Ducks are now part of the Big Ten and open its season on Aug. 31 against Idaho.

#4 Texas

Texas is ranked fourth (Credits: IMAGN)

The Texas Longhorns are the fourth-ranked team in the AP preseason poll. Texas made it to the college football playoff last season but lost in the semis to the Washington Huskies. The Longhorns are joining the SEC in 2024 and open its season on Aug. 31 against the Colorado State.

#5 Alabama

The Alabama Crimson Tide are the ranked fifth in the AP poll.

Alabama will be without Nick Saban who retired and was replaced by Kalen DeBoer. The Crimson Tide made it to the college football playoff last season but lost in the semifinals to Michigan.

Alabama will open its 2024 season on Aug. 31 against Western Kentucky.
