Following the addition of Texas and Oklahoma, the Southeastern Conference could expand further in the ongoing waves of conference realignment. The league, which is the most competitive in college football, is reportedly looking to expand to other markets.

Contrary to earlier projections, the league is reportedly not open to bringing in Clemson and Florida State despite the market value of the two schools. The Tigers and the Seminoles continue to push for an exit, and their success could pave the way for other Atlantic Coast Conference schools.

Let's look at the ACC schools the SEC might consider adding if Clemson and Florida State create an exit route.

3 ACC teams that could join SEC expansion after Clemson leaves

#1, North Carolina

North Carolina has been linked to a move to the SEC in the past few months. Considered one of the top teams in the ACC, the university is already considering the possibility of an exit. According to Ross Dellenger, the school is an attractive target for the “Power Two.”

With the Seminoles and the Tigers, the SEC already has roots in Florida and South Carolina. So, North Carolina offers a whole new opportunity to the league. The Tar Heels comes from a contiguous state, something the conference values in its expansion process.

#2, Virginia

The state of Virginia is another market the SEC looks to explore, and the University of Virginia seems like a good option. While the school hasn't had a solid history of success in college football, it offers a lot of financial value to the SEC.

The Cavaliers are among the many schools hoping to leave the ACC if the opportunity eventually presents itself. Like North Carolina, the university is from a contiguous state, a factor crucial in the conference expansion move over the years.

#3, Miami

With significant success, Miami is a storied program in college football. The program has struggled in the last couple of years. However, it looks like it is on its way back to the top under the leadership of Mario Cristobal.

The Hurricanes come from a state where the SEC already has a root. However, the school is located in a city that is arguably the biggest market in Florida. That could be a huge point of attraction to the SEC.
