Notre Dame is one game away from its first college football title since 1988. Ohio State is a fearsome opponent, but a Notre Dame team that has taken down Indiana, Georgia and Penn State could outlast the Buckeyes. The biggest issue is Ohio State's No.1 overall defense in the nation, but Notre Dame has some offensive weapons that could counter the Buckeyes.

On the season, the 14-1 Irish have scored 37.0 points per game, the sixth best in the nation and ahead of Ohio State's 35.7. The Irish's 210.8 rushing yards per game is 14th nationally. Notre Dame's passing attack is not prolific but is in efficient complement.

Here are three key Notre Dame offensive standouts who could help pull an upset over Ohio State:

#3 Riley Leonard, QB

Leonard isn't the typical big-time QB, in that his passing game is selective and complementary instead of explosive, but his ground attack is also imposing and could be bigger against Ohio State. For the season, the Duke transfer has passed for 2,606 yards and 19 touchdowns but rushed for 866 yards and 16 touchdowns as well.

Leonard has thrown two interceptions just twice all season - in Notre Dame's loss to Northern Illinois and in the tight semifinal battle with Penn State. But Leonard's weaker passing games, like against Georgia, when he was held to under 100 yards, was offset by his ground skills. The dual threat will be key to Notre Dame's chances.

#2 Mitchell Evans, TE

A veteran tight end, Evans is a team-first guy who could be key in two areas against Penn State. First, he's a very solid blocker who helps set the edge for the Irish rushing attack. Second, he's also a tremendously dependable pass target.

Evans has a team-high 39 catches on the season for 369 yards and three touchdowns. He's had at least two catches in Notre Dame's last nine games. Evans is a particular threat in the red zone, where his size (6-foot-5 and 260 pounds) could make him pivotal.

#1 Jeremiyah Love, RB

Love, who's battling injuries as the season concludes, has been the big-play threat in Notre Dame's offense all season. His 1,122 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns suggest his intense significance for the Irish. He averages 7.1 yards per carry and has posted five 100+ yard rushing games.

Love has also racked up 11 20+ yard rushes on the season. To put that total into perspective, that's more 20+ yard runs than Georgia, Nebraska, Syracuse or Wisconsin have managed all season. Love's big play ability could wreck Ohio State's title hopes.
