Ohio State brings a dangerous offense into Monday's CFP title game against Notre Dame. The Buckeyes have reached the national title game in no small part due to racking up 35.8 points per game. Ohio State's potent rushing and passing attacks make them a veritable nightmare to defend.
The Buckeyes have assembled an impressive collection of talent either via transfer (QB Will Howard, RB Quinshon Judkins) or high school recruiting (WRs Emeka Egbuka and Jeremiah Smith and RB Treveyon Henderson). It's a talented, experienced group that is unmatched in college football. Here are three top Buckeyes who are the hardest to match.
Top 3 Ohio State players who look scary heading into title game
3. Will Howard, QB
A veteran transfer from Kansas State, Howard stepped into one of the most pressure-packed spots in college football. He's done a brilliant job, passing for 3,779 yards and 33 touchdowns. Howard has also averaged 9.4 yards per pass attempt, a testimony to the explosive of Ohio State's offense.
Howard has also been capable on the ground, adding 169 yards and seven TDs. Howard's efficiency is matched only by his consistency. He's only come in under 7.6 yards per throw or thrown multiple interceptions once in the loss to Michigan. Otherwise, he's been near automatic.
2. Treveyon Henderson, RB
Henderson has always been talented in four seasons in Columbus but hasn't always been durable. He's battled injuries in the last two years, but in 2024, with Quinshon Judkins splitting carries, Henderson has stayed healthy.
Henderson hasn't topped 11 carries all year, but he has 967 yards and 10 touchdowns. Henderson has averaged 7.3 yards per rush on the season. 40 of his 132 carries gained first downs.
He had 31 runs of 10+ yards and 10 runs of 20+ yards on the season. Over two dozen FBS teams, including Georgia, Nebraska and Colorado, failed to top 10 20+ yard runs.
1. Jeremiah Smith, WR
The most electrifying young receiver in college football, Smith has certainly had a freshman season to remember. His totals stand at 71 catches for 1,227 yards and 14 touchdowns. Smith is seventh in the Big Ten in catches, second in yardage (six yards behind leader Tyler Warren of Penn State), first in touchdowns and fourth in yards per reception.
Smith has had five 100+ yard games this season, including the CFP wins over Tennessee and Oregon. Smith also scored a touchdown in each of his first seven games and had two scores in each of the above CFP wins. He's virtually unstoppable and likely to have something special on tap for the title game.
