Shedeur Sanders has been in the limelight ahead of the 2024 college football season. The Colorado Buffaloes quarterback will lead the offense for the team as it returns to the Big 12 conference.

Despite the attention around Sanders and Colorado, there are a few reasons why the Buffaloes won't achieve instant success in the Big 12 in 2024.

3 reasons why Shedeur Sanders won't lead Colorado to the Big 12 title

#1. Shedeur's rushing game lacks credibility

Shedeur Sanders has established himself as one of the best passing quarterbacks in college football. However, the Colorado star's rushing game still needs work if the Buffaloes want to win major honors like the Big 12 title.

In his 2023 debut season with Colorado, Shedeur rushed 111 times for 394 yards and scored four touchdowns. However, frequent sacks left him with a negative 77 rushing total.

While Colorado's offensive line needs to take more responsibility to protect its quarterback, Shedeur doesn't seem to have the best rushing game for a signal-caller.

#2. Big 12 is a competitive conference with several top quarterbacks

Colorado's return to the Big 12 in 2024 after 13 seasons in the Pac-12 places them in a highly competitive conference. Arizona's Noah Fifita, Utah's Cameron Rising, Kansas' Jalon Daniels, and West Virginia's Garrett Greene are some of this year's top signal-callers in the Big 12 conference.

Sanders' Colorado finished at the bottom of the Pac-12 in 2023 with a 4-8 record. It's likely too much of a jump to make for the Buffaloes to win a conference in 2024.

#3. Too much spotlight on Shedeur might lead to his downfall

Shedeur Sanders can't stop himself from making headlines and ahead of an important 2024 season, the attention on Shedeur could be too much for the young quarterback.

Furthermore, the Sanders family tends to grab most of the spotlight. With his father Deion as the coach of Colorado, there is a chance for the father-son duo to achieve something special. However, things could also go awry as indicated by last season.
