While the conclusion of the Big 12 conference battle is up in the air, the league's corps of standout wide receivers is undeniable. Some of the top receivers in the nation play for Big 12 teams.
Here's a rundown of five of the league's top pass catching threats.
Top five Big 12 wide receivers of 2024
#5 Josh Kelly, Texas Tech
A 6-foot-1 senior transfer from Washington State and before that Fresno State, Kelly has made an instant impact at Tech.
His 76 catches lead the league, while his 842 yards are sixth best in the Big 12. Kelly has posted back-to-back 100+ yard games in his last two appearances and has had four such games on the season. He has quietly been an incredibly dependable standout for Tech.
#4 Jaylin Noel, Iowa State
A season ago, Noel was the top receiver for the Cyclones. He returned for his senior season and has been even better.
His 56 receptions are seventh best in the league, while his 935 yards are third in the Big 12. With four 100+ yard games on the year, Noel is having a fine season and will likely top 1,000 yards on Saturday against Utah.
#3 Jack Bech, TCU
A rangy 6-foot-2 senior standout who transferred in from LSU, Bech caught just a dozen passes in 2023. But in 2024, he's second in the Big 12 in receiving yards, with 982, and ties for seventh in the league in catches, with 56.
His nine touchdowns also tie for a Big 12 lead. Bech has had four 100+ yard games and three multi-TD games this season.
#2 Travis Hunter, Colorado
The Heisman candidate has certainly had quite a season. While wide receiver may be Hunter's second best position, he still has been impressive.
Hunter has 74 catches for 911 yards and nine touchdowns, which puts him second in the Big 12 in catches, fourth in yards and tied for first in touchdowns. Hunter is about to be among the most-coveted NFL Draft prospects.
#1 Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona
The 6-foot-5 McMillan has been through a disappointing Arizona season, but he's still a star in the making.
McMillan's 1,136 receiving yards not only leads the conference by 154 yards, but it's third best in the nation. His 69 catches are fourth in the Big 12, while his seven touchdowns ties for sixth. McMillan has a touchdown in his last three games and had both a 200-yard game and a 300-yard game.
If McMillan wasn't stuck on a 4-6 Arizona team, he could be a Heisman candidate. Nevertheless, his size and ability to make big plays is amazing. McMillan, for instance, has 13 catches for 25+ yards this year, while Travis Hunter has just 10.
