Five unmissable college football game after conference realignment moves in 2024
#1, Georgia at Texas
Texas will be hosting one of the best teams in the landscape when Georgia visits on Oct. 19. This is one game that is expected to test the Longhorns' SEC credentials next season.
Both the Longhorns and the Bulldogs are considered contenders for the national title and it will be a survival of the fittest Austin. Texas is 4-1 against Georgia and their last meeting came in 2018. This will be their only encounter in 40 years.
#2, Ohio State at Oregon
Oregon is moving to the Big Ten as one of the best teams in college football. The Ducks will get to test their own quality after conference realignment when they face Ohio State on Oct. 12 at the Autzen Stadium in Eugene.
Among the four Big Ten newcomers from the Pac-12, Oregon is touted to flourish the most in the conference and results in games like this will count a lot. The Ducks are 1-9 against the Buckeyes with their only win coming in the last encounter in 2021.
#3, Oregon at Michigan
Aside from playing Ohio State, Oregon will also be out against defending national champion Michigan in just their first season in the Big Ten after the conference realignment. The game will be held Nov. 2 at the Big House.
The Ducks’ resilience as a team is bound to be tested when they visit Ann Arbor as they are considered one of the best teams in the landscape. The Ducks are 2-3 against the Wolverines and have won the last two encounters, which took place in 2003 and 2007.
#4, Texas at Texas A&M
Texas and Texas A&M will rekindle their rivalry on Nov. 30 in College Station after more than a decade of hiatus. The rivalry series was last played in 2011 when the Aggies were in the Big 12.
However, with Texas now in the SEC following their conference realignment, the long-term rivalry is set to come back to life. It was played every year from 1915 to 2011 and it is once again set to return as a yearly affair in college football. The Longhorns lead the series with a 76-37-5 record.
#5, USC at Michigan
USC will begin life in the Big Ten in 2024 with a tough test. The Trojans will travel to Ann Arbor to play the defending national champion Michigan in their very first game in the conference.
The Trojans experienced significant disappointment in 2023 following a poor run of results in the second half of the season and they will need a morale booster against the Wolverines. USC is 6-4 against Michigan with the last matchup in 2007.
