The Florida Gators have stumbled their way to a 4-3 (2-2 Southeastern Conference) record before a brutal November schedule. They will face Georgia, Texas, LSU and Ole Miss over the next four weeks.

Florida will have to win one of those games and then beat Florida State to reach a bowl. Georgia is a big chunk to bite off, but here's how Florida could pull an upset.

5. Penalties could make a difference

Florida is one of the less penalized teams in the SEC, drawing 5.7 flags (2nd in the SEC) for just 51.6 yards per game (3rd fewest). On the other hand, Georgia is penalty-prone. The Bulldogs have 7.1 flags (10th in the SEC) for 72.4 yards per game (14th in the SEC). Flags could help the Gators stick around and keep things competitive.

4. Florida's line is better than expected

Florida has had some massive offensive line problems in recent seasons and a 4-3 record in 2024 will keep the Gators from getting massive praise. However, its offensive line has been solid. Florida has allowed just 10 sacks this season — the third-fewest in the SEC. Not bad for a team that has already played Miami, Texas A&M and Tennessee, among others.

3. Billy Napier's last big shot tips the emotional balance.

Florida/Georgia is always a significant rivalry, but Billy Napier's days in Florida are probably numbered. It's an elephant in the room that the seat under Napier is red-hot and he's probably not going to survive the season. The emotional component of football is probably overrated, but if there is a possibility of rallying to save Napier's job, it could be a game changer for UF.

2. DJ Lagway at QB

With a season-ending injury to Graham Mertz, the Gators have turned the offense over to DJ Lagway. Yes, the freshman is raw — he's thrown five interceptions in his 86 passes. However, he adds another element to the offense. With 11.9 yards per pass attempt and a credible rushing attack, Lagway will give Georgia more issues on defense.

1. Florida's defense has gotten sticky

In the last three games, Florida's defense has shown massive strides. It has held its opponents to 273, 312 and 309 yards. Nobody has passed for 170 yards or rushed for 150 yards against the Gators in that span. Given that Georgia is a different matter, Florida's defense has been steadily preparing for a big challenge — possibly the Bulldogs.
