For dedicated players of EA Sports College Football 25, recruiting is one of the most anticipated factors of the game. It could probably take being an actual FBS football coach to top the thrill of finding your team's next future star, scouting him and eventually signing him. But there can be a dark side.

Here's how not to mess up your game significantly when it comes to recruiting in College Football 25.

#1. Not paying attention to your team's needs

There's always a temptation to just dive on the best players. But a thoughtful recruiting process needs to contemplate team needs. If you run a pass-heavy offense, you might be attractive to a bunch of top receivers. But if you've already got several, you might need to prioritize a good running back or depth on the offensive line. Consider team needs in recruiting decisions or pay a price.

#2. Don't spend all your time gambling on top recruits.

The five-star standouts in the recruiting process can certainly be attractive. And while it's a massive jolt for a team to sign a top player, the bread and butter of teams is signing underrated three-star and four-star prospects. Careful scouting can find players just as important as many five-stars, and they're much easier to sign. Balance in all things College Football 25 is wise, and that includes going after big-time recruits.

#3. Ignore your pipelines at your own peril

Every dynasty has its own recruiting pipelines. It's a geographical advantage that can help your team stand out and sign recruits it might miss. If a player is trying to choose between a five-star recruit outside his or her pipeline and a four-star recruit within it, then the pipeline prospect is probably the better bet. The pipelines can do some significant helping, but only if you use them.

#4. The recruiting hours should also be used judiciously

Recruiting hours should be used a bit more heavy-handedly, but again, selling out on a recruit or two could cost players slightly lower-ranked recruits who they could otherwise sign.

#5. Don't expect the transfer portal to save your team

The addition of the transfer portal to College Football 25 was a significant decision. That said, it's perhaps best to approach it more like Dabo Swinney than Deion Sanders. Use the portal to complement your existing roster and with the expectation of adding depth, not with the idea of finding starters and stars.
