Caleb Cunningham was long considered a crown jewel in Kalen DeBoer's inaugural recruiting class. The five-star wide receiver was supposed to be the next great Alabama Crimson Tide pass catcher, following in the footsteps of Ryan Williams in the 2024 college football season.
However, Cunningham took to X/Twitter on Wednesday to confirm flipping his commitment to Ole Miss:
"Home is Home!"
What will Caleb Cunningham bring to Ole Miss?
Cunningham hails from Ackerman, Mississippi. He's currently ESPN's No. 21 overall high school to college prospect for the 2025 cycle. He is ranked as the No. 2 wide receiver prospect in his class.
The speedy wide receiver is a three-sport star at Choctaw County High School. However, it was in football that he showed the most promise, setting numerous school records in his junior year. He'll now have the chance to spearhead a youthful revolution at Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss Rebels.
The Rebels have Antwane Wells Jr., Tre Harris and Cayden Lee as the starters at the wide receiver position. All three wideouts have thrived in the 2024 season, with each leading the team in receiving yards in different games throughout the season.
Wells is in his senior year, his first and potentially last season with the Rebels. He earned first-team All-SEC honors in 2022 as a part of the South Carolina Gamecocks. Tre Harris is also in his senior year and his second season with the Rebels. Harris earned first-team All-C-USA honors as part of Louisiana Tech.
Meanwhile, Cayden Lee is in his sophomore season with the Rebels, and 2024 is his first as a starter. He'll be looking to carve out a bigger role for himself as the season progresses.
Caleb Cunningham will add speed and skill to the positional group in 2025 and beyond. His junior season stat line of 48 catches for 1,138 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns is a sign of his dominance at the high school level. It'll be interesting to see whether he can continue such dominance in the Southeastern Conference.
