The Texas Longhorns are gearing up to face the Oklahoma Sooners in Week 7 of the college football season. Quinn Ewers is set to make his long-awaited return after missing a couple of games due to an oblique injury.
Ahead of his return, Jordan Rodgers threw a subtle dig at Texas quarterback Arch Manning.
“Quinn Ewers is the best QB in the country right now," Rodgers said per Paul Finebaum. "We just all forgot about that while watching Arch Manning do some nice things against lesser competition.”
Arch Manning is the nephew of Super Bowl-winning legendary quarterbacks Eli and Peyton Manning. It won't be surprising if he is paying close attention to the words of the college football broadcaster.
How has Arch Manning performed this season?
Arch Manning has been solid in the games he has played this season. He has appeared in four games and has guided the Longhorns to wins in each of them.
Manning has recorded a stat line of 901 passing yards, nine passing touchdowns and two interceptions. He's also added three rushing touchdowns off 82 rushing yards.
The Texas Longhorns' QB room is in good hands as Quinn Ewers is likely to declare for the NFL Draft at the end of this CFB season. In Arch Manning, the Longhorns have a legacy QB capable of doing almost anything he wishes with the football. Plus, he's just in his redshirt freshman year so he'll certainly be even better.
What to expect from Texas against Oklahoma?
The No. 1-ranked Texas Longhorns are up against the No. 18-ranked Sooners.
DraftKings Sportsbook has the spread -15.5 in favor of Texas. However, the "Red River Rivalry" is one of the most difficult games to predict in collegiate football.
According to the College Football Network, underdogs have won five of the last 11 regular season "Red River Rivalry" matchups, including Oklahoma’s 34-30 upset victory last season over a Texas Longhorns squad that went to the College Football Playoff. Hence, don't be surprised if Saturday's game takes a surprising turn.
