On Jan. 11, Nick Saban decided to give up his throne and announced his retirement after spending 17 glorious years with the Crimson Tide. Fans were shocked to hear this and were worried about Alabama's future. But those concerns were soon put to rest as the Washington coach stepped up for the job.

Kalen DeBoer has proven himself to be a great coach, as reflected by his 104-12 record. He led the Huskies to an electrifying Pac-12 championship title but lost the College Football Playoff championship game to Michigan 34-13.

On the channel "Next Up with Adam Breneman," DeBoer opened up about building his coaching staff during the post-Nick Saban era (Timestamp: 15:40):

"I think the way it came together, in the end, I am just crazy excited about who we have and how there's so many, you know, there's some people that have, you know, just familiar paths with and work to get work with at different stops. But there's this SEC, Southeast part of the country, kind of feel to our staff as well.
"If you remember, I mean, I brought originally four coaches down from Washington (with two leaving for jobs with the Seattle Seahawks). ... But, you know, Nick Sheridan, JaMarcus Sheppard –really, the two on-field coaches that are here from Washington and really understand from an offensive side, you know, what we want to do, you know, it's our system that we've built over many years, and they understand it inside and out."

Kalen DeBoer's impressive strides in the recruitment process

After Nick Saban retired with six national championships under his name at Alabama, Kalen DeBoer had some big shoes to fill.

However, ever since his takeover, DeBoer has been impressing many college football analysts and fans with his bold strides in recruiting.

Despite his rocky start with the Crimson Tide, when players like Isaiah Bond and Amari Black transferred after Saban's retirement, DeBoer was successful in taking the momentum back and recruiting top talent like five-star Ryan Williams, four-star Keelon Russell and five-star wide receiver Jalen Hale.

He was also able to bring back Alabama's star offensive lineman Kradyn Proctor while retaining big names like Malachi Moore, Jalen Milroe and Tyler Booker.

Fans will be interested to see how Kalen DeBoer leads Alabama in his first year as its coach.
