The Alabama Crimson Tide were not able to make the College Football Playoff in coach Kalen DeBoer's first year taking over for the retired Nick Saban. Some significant players in the program have entered the NCAA Transfer Portal and is going to drastically change the future of Alabama.
Here's a closer look at three key losses for the Alabama Crimson Tide from the transfer portal and what they did for the Roll Tide.
Alabama's biggest transfer portal losses
#1. Justice Haynes - RB
Sophomore running back Justice Haynes is one of the key figures from the 2024 Alabama Crimson Tide and entered the NCAA Transfer Portal while committing to the Michigan Wolverines.
Haynes was one of the leading offensive weapons as he had 79 rushing attempts for 448 yards (5.7 yards per carry) with seven rushing touchdowns as well as 17 catches for 99 yards (5.8 yards per reception) without any receiving touchdowns.
He spent two years with the Crimson Tide so things are going to be interesting going forward.
#2. Caleb Odom - WR
Freshman wide receiver Caleb Odom is one of the more exciting wide receivers for the 2025 season but will not be with the Alabama Crimson Tide. He will remain in the Southeastern Conference as he has committed to the Ole Miss Rebels and has only played one year of college football thus far.
Odom was only able to play in four games as he finished with seven receptions for 65 yards (9.3 yards per catch). It will be intriguing to see how he develops and if this will be a massive blow for the Roll Tide in the years to come.
#3. Jeheim Oatis - DL
Defensive lineman Jehiem Oatis is one of the top players in the entire nation in terms of the NCAA Transfer Portal. The 6-foot-5, 320-pound junior has another two years of eligibility and stepped up with 13 starts in his first two seasons with the Crimson Tide. However, he was limited to four games in 2024 and had a pair of tackles (one solo, one assisted) and a pass deflection.
Oatis transferred to the Colorado Buffaloes in December 2024 so it will be interesting to see how coach Kalen DeBoer manages to replace the coveted defensive lineman.
