Arch Manning had a brilliant outing in the 2024 Orange-White Spring Game at Darrell K Royal Stadium on Saturday. The quarterback is entering his second year with the Longhorns after an uneventful freshman season where he was the third-string option at his position.

Manning's impressive performance saw him complete 19 of 25 passes for 355 yards and three touchdowns, which also included two separate 75-yard touchdown throws. This gave a glimpse of what to expect from the quarterback in the upcoming season, where he's expected to get more involvement.

A lot of Texas fans were eager to see Arch Manning’s performance in the spring game and he didn't disappoint. The quarterback struggled in the last Orange-White Spring Game as an early enrollee in 2023 but looks to have gained a lot of confidence on the gridiron this time.

Will Arch Manning start for Texas in 2024?

Arch Manning stole the show in the spring game on Saturday and has been impressive for the Longhorns through spring practice. Nonetheless, the former Isidore Newman quarterback is not expected to take over the starting role in the 2024 college football season.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian had earlier announced that Quinn Ewers would retain the starting role next season after the Ohio State transfer returned for his senior season. Ewers led the Longhorns to the Big 12 championship last season and also participated in the College Football Playoff.

Nonetheless, Arch Manning will have an elevated role in the upcoming season. He will be the backup option for Texas next season following the departure of Maalik Murphy, who played second fiddle to Ewers in 2023. Murphy will play college football at Duke in the 2024 season.

A bright future at Texas

There's been a lot of rumors about Arch Manning transferring away from Texas this offseason. The quarterback hardly got game time last season and this was believed to have infuriated him. Nonetheless, Manning hasn't departed Austin for somewhere else.

With his performance at the Texas spring game on Saturday, it's evident that Manning has a brilliant future in the program. He is viewed as the quarterback of the future and is expected to take the reigns following the departure of Quinn Ewers at the end of this season.

Manning enrolled at Texas as a five-star prospect and was considered the No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2025 by 247Sports. With a huge family legacy on his shoulders, the quarterback expects to have a brilliant college career that leads him to the NFL.
