Arizona State was one of the surprise packages of the 2024 college football season. Projected to finish last in the Big 12, the Sun Devils went on to claim the conference championship, securing a spot in the College Football Playoff.
The success has ensured significant player retention for the program, but a handful of players have still made their way into the portal. Kenny Dillingham has also encouraged players entering the portal to move forward with the plan despite the upcoming playoff schedule.
Here's a look at Arizona State players on the transfer portal:
Arizona State Transfer Portal Tracker
#1 Cole Martin, CB
Martin is one of Arizona State’s portal losses this cycle. Injuries sidelined him for most of this year, but he was projected to be a key player next season. With his father, Demetrice, joining UCLA's coaching staff, his next move is likely to align with that opportunity.
#2 Kamari Wilson
Wilson is another significant transfer portal loss for the Sun Devils. He arrived in Tempe ahead of the 2024 season following a stint at Florida. Despite his potential, he was eventually overshadowed on the depth chart by Shamari Simmons, Xavion Alford and Myles Rowser.
#3 Tristan Monday, DL
Monday announced his intent to enter the transfer portal in October and has not been with the team since then. The defensive tackle found playing time tough to come by, stuck behind the team’s top options such as CJ Fite, Jacob Rich Kongaika and Jeff Clark.
#4 K'Vion Thunderbird, LB
Thunderbird was considered a player with huge potential on Arizona State’s defense. However, he's unlikely to secure substantial playing time in 2025 due to the expected return of starters Keyshaun Elliott, Zyrus Fiaseu and Jordan Crook, leading to his portal decision.
#5 Markeston Douglas, TE
Douglas transferred to Arizona State ahead of the 2024 college football season. However, the blocking specialist saw limited playing time as Chamon Metayer emerged as a standout receiving threat for the Sun Devils. That has led him to the portal again.
#6 Keontez Bradley, CB
Bradley entered the season competing for a top spot on the Arizona State cornerback depth chart. However, he eventually saw his playing time diminish. As the season progressed, he was overtaken by Rodney Bimage and Plas Johnson, leading him to enter the portal.
#7 Laterrance Welch, CB
Laterrance Welch’s portal decision was widely expected following the controversial incident he was involved in. The cornerback was dismissed from the team due to theft charges. He was said to have been arrested in Scottsdale and charged with stealing a watch worth $300,000.
