The West Point Army Black Nights and the Annapolis Navy Midshipmen will clash on Saturday for the annual encounter between the service academies of the two oldest branches of the armed forces. The game has always been an important event in American life, with the occasional presidential guest in attendance.
This year, it's expected that President-elect Donald Trump will attend the event (His fifth, having attended the event in 2016 as President-elect and in 2018, 2019, and 2020 while in office).
The game will be played at Northwest Stadium in Maryland on December 14, starting at 3:00 p.m. ET and will air on CBS.
Army vs. Navy: Preview
About the current state of form of the schools, the Army has to be considered the favorite for the encounter. The Black Knights (11-1, 8-0 AAC) closed out the regular season as the No. 22 school in the nation (CFP). Their only loss was against then-No. 6 Notre Dame, one of the 12 schools selected for the college football playoff. They also beat Tulane, with a convincing 35-14 score, to win the AAC championship.
For some, the committee should have not skipped over the Army when selecting the 12 schools for the CFP. Instead, they'll be playing the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl against the Marshall Thundering Herd on December 28.
The Midshipmen ended the year with an 8-3 record, which helped them get an invitation for the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl against Oklahoma on December 27.
At the moment, ESPN is giving the No. 22 Army Black Knights a 66.0% chance of winning the game against the Navy Midshipmen. The players to watch are both quarterbacks, with the signal-callers of both schools being complete dual threats.
