Another wide receiver is transferring this season, as Ole Miss’ Ayden Williams entered the transfer portal on Saturday. The sophomore wide receiver played in only two games this season, recording three catches for 39 yards.

In two seasons at Mississippi, Williams totaled seven receptions for 119 yards. While he may not boast the high-end production of other receivers in the portal, Williams offers size, upside and two more years of eligibility.

Ayden Williams was a four-star prospect at Ridgeland High in Mississippi. He was coveted by schools such as Georgia, LSU and South Carolina before committing to Ole Miss.

#4. Virginia Tech Hokies

The Hokies have a glaring need for a wide receiver with four players leaving with their eligibility ending this season. Aydan Green can take one of the starting spots, and there are some young options.

Ayden Williams could find some playing time right away and fill a hole in the starting lineup. The Hokies haven’t been able to compete for the ACC title in the last few seasons but have some talent for the future.

With nine additions on the portal already, the roster is taking shape. As for Williams, he could get the playing time he was missing in his stint with the Rebels.

#3. Georgia Bulldogs

After a disappointing end to the 2024 season, the Bulldogs will look to reload for 2025. A wide receiver might be their biggest position of need on the offensive side of the ball. Zachariah Branch and Dane Key have already visited Athens.

If either or both receivers don’t end up in Georgia, it could open the door for Ayden Williams. The Bulldogs have some talented WRs coming in through the 2025 recruiting class, but having more experience on the field would help a team desperate to rebound after two disappointing seasons.

Georgia tried to lure Williams right out of high school. With the receiver leaving Ole Miss, the Bulldogs could jump in once again.

#2. Kansas State Wildcats

The Wildcats competed for the Big 12 title but ultimately fell short of the goal in the remade conference. While they still have a competitive team, they are thin at wide receiver. Kansas State lost Tre Spivey and Keagan Johnson to the transfer portal.

Slot Jayce Brown is the leading receiver returning to Manhattan, while Jadon Jackson and Dante Cephas have experience on the outside. Ayden Williams could compete for playing time at K-State.

The Wildcats also have a solid quarterback situation with Avery Johnson. With little depth at the receiver position, there could be interest on both sides.

#1. South Carolina Gamecocks

With LaNorris Sellers on campus, the Gamecocks believe they can contend to make the College Football Playoff. They do need a receiver starting opposite Nyck Harbor. Williams has the size and talent to take the position.

South Carolina didn’t have much production from its receivers in 2024, but after falling just short of the College Football Playoff, getting better receivers could help its position.

Like Georgia, the Gamecocks tried to recruit Ayden Williams out of high school, which means they saw something they were interested in. With a need at the position, they could still look his way.
