Steve Sarkisian has developed one of the better quarterback rooms in the country for the 2024 CFB season. With Quinn Ewers, Arch Manning, and Trey Owens, the Longhorns must be feeling confident heading into their first season at the SEC.
After the 2023 season, many individuals expected Arch Manning to transfer to another school for better opportunities, as Texas will be playing Quinn Ewers as its QB1. However, Manning clarified his intentions and plans to stick with the Longhorns for the upcoming season.
In a conversation with former NFL star Robert Griffin III on his podcast "RG3 and the Ones," Quinn Ewers opened up about his relationship with Arch Manning:
"I think we're really intense competitors. And we all want the same outcome. But at the end of the day, I think I think we're better humans. And I think we're better people. And I think that we really enjoy each other's company in that quarterback room.
"I mean, during the season we go to we do quarterback dinners every Tuesday and we go have dinner together after Tuesday meeting so I mean, the room is, I've never been in a closer room. I mean, all three years. It's been a super close room."
Talking about his first year with the Longhorns, Ewers said:
"I mean, my first year here, me and me and Hudson card were in a quarterback battle, but at the same time, we're all hanging out on the weekends, you know, going to dinners, enjoying each other's company. So yeah, football means a lot to all of us but being being good humans I think means more." (18:40)
Steve Sarkisian on Arch Manning's decision to stay at Texas
Despite being benched throughout the 2023 CFB season, Arch Manning decided to show his loyalty to Steve Sarkisian's crew. While many people criticized his decision and implied that he should enter the transfer portal, the Texas HC wasn't surprised by his decision to stay.
In a conversation with college football analyst Josh Pate, Sarkisian expressed his thoughts about Arch's future with the Longhorns:
"Good for Arch he's sticking it out with Texas in year two. And I'm like, 'Hey, that's part of the process like we're developing him to play, be a great football player, and a great leader and he's going to be worked like that,' but that's where we're at."
With a large audience paying close attention to Manning's future, it will be interesting to see him develop.
