The college football season is entering its final stretch as the calendar now turns to Week 9. The Big Ten has been playing great football over the first eight weeks of the season, as the 18 teams are a combined 78-46 overall and 42-10 in non-conference games.

Five Big Ten teams have been ranked in the latest rendition of the AP Top 25 Poll, with three of those teams—the Ohio State Buckeyes, Oregon Ducks and Penn State Nittany Lions—ranked in the top four.

Only one additional program received votes, meaning that six of the Big Ten's 18 teams got some recognition from voters.

The No. 1-ranked Oregon Ducks lead the way as they are 7-0 and 4-0 in conference play.

The No. 3-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions (6-0, 3-0) and No. 4-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes (5-1, 2-1) are not far behind, as each team looks to be in position to make a postseason run.

Here's a look at the Big Ten teams that remain in the College Football Playoff picture.

The No. 1-ranked Oregon Ducks have the best chance of any Big Ten program to reach the College Football Playoff. In fact, they have the best postseason odds in the nation.

The Ducks sit at 7-0 with a 4-0 mark in conference play and are considered a near lock with -3500 College Football Playoff odds.

The No. 4-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes are not far behind, as their -700 odds of reaching the College Football Playoff are fourth-best in the nation.

They are 5-1 overall and 2-1 in Big Ten play. The Buckeyes lone loss came against the Ducks in a battle of top-three ranked programs.

The No. 3-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions have the third-best odds of any Big Ten program of reaching the postseason. They are currently sitting at 6-0, with a 3-0 mark in conference play. The Nittany Lions postseason odds sit at -600, which is the fifth-best in the nation.

The No. 13-ranked Indiana Hoosiers remain undefeated with a 7-0 record that includes a 4-0 mark in Big Ten games.

They are on the outside looking in, however, as their +200 odds are only the 16th-best nationally. The No. 20-ranked Illinois Fighting Illini, with +900 odds, are the conference's only other team with better than +4400 postseason odds.
