Billy Napier has over two decades of coaching experience and is known for his defensive strength. Before moving to Florida, he was the head coach at the University of Louisiana from 2018 to 2021 and led the Ragin' Cajuns to a 40-12 record. He helped the team with four consecutive bowl appearances and won the Sun Belt Conference championship in 2021. Napier was named Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year twice and earned the 2020 Louisiana Sports Writers Association Coach of the Year award. Before becoming the head coach, Napier coached in many assistant positions at different programs, including Clemson, Alabama, Colorado, South Carolina State, and Arizona State. He was the quarterback coach, wide receivers coach, tight ends coach, offensive coordinator, recruiting head, and offensive analyst.
