Maddux Madsen started every game for the Broncos this season and was thoroughly effective in the process. Barring any unforeseen occurrences, Madsen will start as the quarterback for the Broncos versus the Rebels.

Madsen has come a long way since appearing in just one game in his first season at the collegiate level. He's now the incumbent starter on one of the top 10 football programs in the country, and he hands off the ball to a 2024 Heisman Trophy frontrunner in Ashton Jeanty.

Madsen will be poised for the game against the Rebels, which is merely the first step in a potential expanded College Football Playoff run in 2024 for the Broncos.

Boise State Broncos' QB depth chart

According to College Football Network, Boise State has just two quarterbacks on their depth chart: Maddux Madsen and Malachi Nelson. The Broncos' backup Nelson is set to warm the bench against the UNLV Rebels.

Nelson joined the Broncos ahead of the 2024 season after one season with the USC Trojans. The former consensus five-star prospect did not get an opportunity to start for USC, so he decided to take his talents to Boise State.

Ahead of the MW Championship Game, he'll be on the bench ready in case Madsen gets hurt. So far, Nelson has a mere three appearances (all from the bench) to his name in his first season with the Broncos. His talents could eventually get him a chance at Boise State or somewhere else.
